Engineering is the art or science of making practical.

PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Seth Walsdorf's resume includes a varied array of experience in the laboratory setting as well as the field through internship and currently as an Engineer-in-Training. With an emphasis in cement based materials, Seth participated in several research projects focused on concrete. Among these were the following:

- Heat of Hydration with varying dosage and manufacturers of Water Reducing Admixture (WRA)/ High Range Water Reducing Admixtures (HRWRA) of Mortars. Samples were created and tested for isothermal calorimetry, compressive strength, density, air content and flow.

- Designed a Self Consolidating Concrete (SCC) mixture to attain 10,000 psi compressive strength using aggregates portland cement, water and High Range Water Reducing Admixture (HRWRA). Test batches were made to determine capacity in compression, tension, and shear following ASTM guidelines.

- Designed a "Green" High Performance Self Consolidating Concrete (SCC) mixture using water, aggregates, Portland Cement, Silica Fume, Fly Ash-C, Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag Cement (GGBFS) and High Range Water Reducing Admixture (HRWRA). Test batches were made to determine capacity in compression, tension, and shear following ASTM guidelines. The goal was to create an approximate compression capacity of 15,400 PSI while still maintaining workability to allow the material to flow when being placed in formwork.

Seth's experience broadened through his internship in the building envelope consulting field. He has worked extensively in the roofing, wall as well as the hardscape (asphalt and concrete) areas in the public and private sector with industrial, municipal, educational buildings.
